Calvary Chapel Mira Mesa

 THAILAND MISSION STATEMENT

Our main focus is for the hill tribe children, to give them a “Hope and a Future” through education, food, access to clean water and health care, emergency accommodation and most importantly, LOVE.
John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.

The Hope Preschool
The Hope Preschool has been open now for 12 months and cares for 25 children, with 20 more kids expected to start in 2009. We provide the children with FREE education, healthcare, daily hot lunch, daily milk, and the special care that all children deserve in a loving Christian environment.
The children play, sing “action” songs, learn Thai and English, (their native tongue is Lahu) draw, paint and do all the things you would expect your kids to do in a “western” preschool. The difference is that in Hill tribe villages, preschool facilities are not provided by the Thai government because Hill tribe people are classed as “second class” citizens.

Child Development Projects
The Hope Preschool is only one of the Child Development Projects missionaries Stephen & Sammy Darby oversee. In 2008 as well as building & operating the preschool, with the help of our friends & partners, God has provided wheelchairs and access paths for two disabled children in the village. God also provided a safe haven from an abusive father for two of the village girls Narbo and Esang (12 & 13 years old). Additionally, God provided food parcels, food supplements, clothing, healthcare, reading glasses, money to many of the village needy families, provided English teaching at the village Government school, assisted the Compassion International project (120 Kids) in the village, and assisted a children’s home in Chiang Rai, preaching the love of Jesus.

NEW VISION FOR 2009
As God expands our vision of “Giving Kids Hope” He has already been speaking to us about starting a children's home in 2009. There are many orphans and young girls in this and surrounding villages that are at great risk.
· Unfortunately young girls are still being sold off to predators in the “child sex trade.”
· Girls as young as 10 years old are being forced into marriage.
· Children are unable to complete secondary education due to the isolation of the tribal villages.

Narbo and Esang                    Spending time in the Word

It is crucial that we identify these kids so we can save them from this horrific fate and give them a safe living environment.
The planning and development of this project will be a lifetime commitment. God has already provided a small house on a large block of land, which is ideally situated to ensure a complete education can be offered to the Lahu children. We will need to build a home/dormitory to accommodate the children, but will have to wait for funding to begin this project.
We know many of you will want to help us to keep these kids safe. If you would like to support this new project or help to keep the pre-school operating please send your tax deductible donation to Calvary Chapel Mira Mesa or speak with my sister Kim Bryant (858) 880-9056 and she can give you additional information.
